Reacting swiftly to trends and customers’ wishes requires fast decision-making, optimized processes and flexibility – as well as dedicated staff who take the initiative and embrace innovation. To promote speedy, customer-oriented action, HUGO BOSS has accelerated its business processes without making any concessions in terms of product exclusivity and quality.
Various process steps need to mesh when turning a sketch into a finished design at HUGO BOSS – starting with the work of our creative team. Ideas are not generated in a vacuum. Our designers draw inspiration from architecture, the arts, technology and economic trends. As a result our fashions are always statements about the world in which they are conceived. There is, however, one constant: our aspiration of exclusivity in regard to the materials used and the standard of craftsmanship that shapes them.
Looking good will not suffice for our collections; they need to feel good as well. Great wearing comfort, durability and an excellent fit require premium materials. Our quality standards in production are equally important, as is innovative know-how. 3D technologies play a pivotal role in both the initial ideas and finished collections. Today virtual visualization has replaced the time-consuming production of samples, rendering the coordination and combination of different colors, fabrics and other elements a fast, uncomplicated process. As a consequence, collections can be produced more efficiently and sustainably.
The design team’s initial ideas culminate to a prototype, and the model department assesses the feasibility of its industrial production. In doing so, it employs the new processing methods from product development that increasingly use innovative techniques for fusing, gluing and coloring. Leading roles in this process are played by the HUGO BOSS production sites in Metzingen, Morrovalle (Italy), Radom (Poland) and Izmir (Turkey), where the expertise and quality standards that HUGO BOSS passes on to its production partners are further honed.
Delivering goods Europe-wide in only 24 – 48 hours requires a perfectly functioning logistics network. At HUGO BOSS, this revolves around the distribution center for hanging goods located in Metzingen and the fully automated folded goods warehouse south of Stuttgart. The latter alone ships more than 35 million units per year. In addition to these main facilities, HUGO BOSS maintains a number of regional distribution centers. The logistics for our online business operate separately; its European distribution network is coordinated from the former warehouse in Wendlingen which was refitted for this purpose in 2015.
The speed of our design and manufacturing processes allows us to respond rapidly to trends and the requests of our customers. We will be pursuing further advances in this area; after all, customers today have no time for long delays. For this reason we will be seeking to offer our collections more quickly and flexibly than ever – both online and in local BOSS Stores.
Our employees are the mainstays of our success. For this reason we support their efforts to tap their full potential and offer them added opportunities including numerous training programs. But hard workers also need time to recuperate, and at HUGO BOSS work-life balance is more than a buzzword. Since 2008 the Group has been part of a nationwide German network with the name “Erfolgsfaktor Familie” (“Success – The Family Factor”). We believe in the compatibility of people’s professional and personal lives and, for example, help our employees with company-run childcare programs and flexible part-time and home-office options. This flexibility reflects our position as employers: in our view people at HUGO BOSS deserve the opportunity of evolving their lives individually – both at home and at work.
People employed with us are willing to assume responsibility. This is why management has created the added scope and decision-making structures needed by each individual to play an active role and, in cooperation with others, put ideas into action. Our employees are not the only beneficiaries; HUGO BOSS as a company reaps the rewards as well.
“I’ve been a Made-to-Measure specialist at HUGO BOSS for several years now. I’m living my dream.”
